This webpage and blog are pretty much busywork, right now, to keep me occupied while I deal with losing first my maternal Gran, then Smokey, and now my Dad.
I was going to get a permit to buy a .22 pistol for target shooting and for trapping small predators at our country place. This was mostly so Dad and I would have a hobby in common, and something for us to do, just the two of us. Dad was so pleased when I told him I wanted to learn how to shoot, and I reckon he'd have wanted me to carry on with getting the permit anyway. So I'm going to get ahold of the Helsinki Shooting Club and sign up when I get the chance. In Finland, if you want a gun, you have to become a member of either a hunting or shooting society before you get it.
I'm constantly discovering new things that I'll have to take care of, which Dad dealt with for me, and which I don't really know anything about. Car maintenance comes to mind: I have no idea where the summer tyres for the cars are. The ones for my car might be in the garage in the country, but I haven't a clue where to find the ones for Dad's car. Maybe they're at the tyre shop in storage? If not, there's no telling where Dad put them.
